Ordering Glass Shades without Hardware.
Bicycle Glass pendants are great, but what if you just want the glass globes and none of the hardware? We’ve got you covered. It's easy to order just the shades, we'll show you how below.
Bicycle Glass makes beautiful pendant lights from post consumer glass, right here in Minnesota. You may not need the hardware, because you already have hardware you like from a previous pendant light. A new shade to go on that pendant hardware will give you the update you want, and allow you to skip the electrical work.
Great news, we do this all the time at Bicycle Glass. There are a few key things to keep in mind to make sure that this will work well for your space.
Type of attachment
Bicycle Glass pendant lights utilize an e26 medium base bulb socket set. that use a shade ring to affix the glass to the hardware by screwing the shade ring up onto the socket and compressing the glass shade. We also provide shade skirts that hide the threads of the e26 socket. If your existing lighting set up is similar, we’re talking about an easy update.
Hole Size in Glass
Bicycle glass drills a 1.75" diameter hole in the top of each of its hand made glass shades. This is a standard diameter hole that allows for a little bit of wiggle room. You'll want to measure your existing shade's hole as well as the hardware that it will be attaching to. This small effort will help ensure that your new Bicycle Glass globe will easily fit onto your existing hardware.
Customization
Bicycle glass mostly works in the configuration side of things. However, if you do need anything custom please don't hesitate to reach out and ask us what may be possible.
